1. Taipei 101 – Taipei – Taiwan

O edifício tem 509 metros de altura, 101 andares e foi inaugurado em 2004. O escritório que o projetou foi C. Y. Lee e Associados. No 89 andar há um espaço interno para observação da paisagem e no 91 um deck externo. Uma peça de 800 toneladas ajuda a estabilizar a torre em fortes ventanias e terremotos. A peça é uma enorme bola formada por pratos de aço fundidos colocada no topo do edifício, e é visível do restaurante e bar que estão localizados no espaço ao redor da bola. O desenho é inspirado na arquitetura tradicional chinesa, e seu formato lembra um pagode.

The building has 509 m (1,671 ft) height, 101 floors and was opened in 2004. The design is by C. Y. Lee and Partners. The 89th floor holds an indoor observation area, and an outdoor observation deck is located on the 91st floor. An 800-ton tuned mass damper helps stabilize the tower in high winds and earthquakes. This damper is an enormous ball of welded steel plates hanging inside the top of the building, and is visible from the restaurant and bar which encircles the space around the ball. The design is inspired by traditional Chinese architecture, with a shape resembling a pagoda.

O edifício tem 492 metros de altura, 101 andares e foi inaugurado em 2008. Os arquitetos foram Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates PC, East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co. Ltd. Um hotel 6 estrelas foi instalado no topo do edifício, e este é o segundo mais alto hotel do mundo. O projeto da torre inclui 300 quartos de hotel nos últimos andares e uma área de observação no topo. a abertura circular no topo do edifício representa o “paraíso” e também reduz a força do vento sobre o edifício.

The building has 492 m height (1,614 ft) and 101 floors and was opened in 2008. The architects were Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates PC, East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co. Ltd. A 6-star hotel will be located near the top of the building, which will be the second highest hotel in the world. The design of the tower includes 300 hotel rooms on the upper floors and an observation area at the top. The circular aperture at the top of the building represents ‘heaven’ and also reduces wind load on the building.

3 e 4. Torre Petronas 1 e 2 – Kuala Lampur – Malásia / Malaysia

As Torres tem 452 m de altura cada uma, 88 andares e foram inauguradas em 1998. os arquitetos foram Cesar Pelli & Associates Architects, Adamson Associates International, RSP Architects Planners & Engineers Private Limited. As duas torres têm um total de 76 elevadores, incluindo 29 de dois andares de alta velocidade em cada torre. Cada elevador de dois andares pode transportar 26 pessoas. A passarela elevada está aberta ao público, e conecta ambas as torres nos adares 41 e 42. Ela tem 98,4 metros de comprimento e pesa 750 toneladas.

The Towers have 452 m height (1,483 ft), 88 floors and were opened in 1998. The architects were Cesar Pelli & Associates Architects, Adamson Associates International, RSP Architects Planners & Engineers Private Limited. The two towers have a total of 76 lifts, including 29 double-decker high speed passenger lifts in each tower. Each double-decker elevator can carry 26 persons. The skybridge is now open to the public, and connects both towers at levels 41 and 42. It is 58.4 meters long (192 feet) and weighs 750 tons.

5. Torre Sears – Chicago – Estados Unidos / United States

O edifício tem 442 m de altura, 108 andares e foi inaugurado em 1974. Seus arquitetos foram Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. A estrutura é formada por 9 m² de tubos unidos, cada um deles com quase 23 metros de largura, sem colunas entre o centro e o perímetro do edifício. 2 dos tubos têm 50 andares de altura, 2 têm 66 andares, 3 têm noventa e dois têm 108.

The building has 442 m height (1,451 ft), 108 floors and was opened in 1974. Its architects were Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. The structure is formed from 9 bundled square tubes, each 75 feet wide (about 23 m) with no columns between the core and perimeter. Two of the tubes are 50 floors high, two are 66 floors, three are 90, and two are 108.

A torre tem 421 m de altura, 88 andares e foi inaugurada em 1999. O projeto envolveu os seguintes escritórios: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, The Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design (SIADR), East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co. Ltd. O edifício tem um observatório (com uma área de 1.520 m²) no 88 andar, a uma altura de 340,1m. É o maior e o mais alto observatório da China. Os escritórios ocupam do 3º ao 50º andar. Um hotel 5 estrelas (Grand Hyatt Hotel) ocupa os 38 andares mais altos com 555 quartos.

The tower has 421m height (1,380 ft), 88 floors and was opened in 1999. The design involved these offices: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, The Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design (SIADR), East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co. Ltd. The tower has an observatory (with a floor space of 1,520 square metres) on the 88th floor, at a height of 340.1 metres. It is the largest and highest observation deck in China. Offices occupy floors 3 through 50. A 5-star Grand Hyatt Hotel fills the top 38 floors with 555 rooms.

7. Two International Finance Centre – Hong Kong – China

O edifício tem 415m de altura, 88 andares e foi terminado em 2003. O projeto coube a Rocco Design Limited, Cesar Pelli & Associates Architects. Uma área de exposição e uma biblioteca do do Centro de Informação do Banco Central de Hong Kong ocupam o 55º andar e é aberto ao público. Este prédio foi filmado no filme americano “Tomb Raider 2″.

The building has 415 m height (1,362 ft), 88 floors and was finished in 2003. The design was made by Rocco Design Limited, Cesar Pelli & Associates Architects. An exhibition area and a library of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Information Centre occupy the 55th floor and are open to the public. This building was featured in the Hollywood movie “Tomb Raider 2″.

9. Shun Hing Square , Shenzhen, China

O edifício tem 384 m de altura, 69 andares e foi terminado em 1996. O projeto é do escritório K.Y. Cheung Design Associates. Ele é o edifício chinês mais alto feito em aço. O edifício contém escritórios, moradias, vagas de estacionamento e um shopping. O shopping tem 5 andares com 4 caixas de escada, 5 elevadores de passageiros e 2 de carga, e uma área construída em cada andar de 3.450 m² a 4.900 m².

The building has 384 m height (1,260 ft), 69 floors and was finished in 1996. The design is by the office K.Y. Cheung Design Associates. Tallest “steel” building in China. The building provides offices, apartments, car park and shopping arcade complex. The shopping arcade is a five-storey mall with four sets of escalators, five passenger lifts and two service lifts and a floor area ranging from 3450m2 to 4900m2.

10. Empire State Building, Nova York/New York, Estados Unidos/United States

O edifício tem 381 m de altura, 102 andares e foi inaugurado em 1931. O Empire State é uma lenda e foi projetado por Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates. Sendo um ícone internacional, ele já foi visitado por mais de 117 milhões de pessoas, que ficam maravilhados com a vista de Nova Jersey, Pensilvania, Conecticut e Massachusetes. O Hall tem 5 andares de altura e é uma obra-prima Art deco, feito artesanalmente em granito e mármore, e iluminado por alumínio polido. A fachada é composta por mais de 61.000 m³ de calcareo e granito de Indiana, e utiliza formas e perspectivas para causar distorção ótica e fazer com que pareça menor do que seus 102 andares.

The building has 381 m height (1,250 ft), 102 floors and was opened in 1931. The Empire State Building is a legend and was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates. An international icon, it has been visited by more than 117 million people, who come to marvel at the 80-mile view into New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The lobby is a five-story Art Deco masterpiece crafted in rich granite and marble, and highlighted by brushed stainless steel. The façade is composed of more than 200,000 cubic feet (61.000 square metres) of Indiana limestone and granite, and utilizes several setbacks to offset the optical distortion of its 102-story height.
